4 orchard apples

100 g ground pecans

100 g butter (softened)

60 g sugar

2 eggs

25 g flour

10 g rum

100 ml maple syrup

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the apples:
    • Use an apple corer to remove the core and seeds from each apple, ensuring you don't pierce through the base.
  3. Make the pecan cream:
    • In a bowl, mix the sugar and softened butter until creamy.
    • Add the ground pecans and stir well.
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
    • Add the flour, then finish with the rum, mixing until smooth.
  4. Fill and bake the apples:
    • Stuff the apple centers with the pecan cream mixture.
    • Place the apples on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 20 minutes, until the apples are tender and golden.
  5. Prepare the maple caramel:
    • While the apples are baking, gently heat the maple syrup in a small saucepan.
    • Let it reduce until it reaches a caramel-like consistency, being careful not to burn it.
  6. Plating:
    • Let the apples cool slightly after baking.
    • Drizzle with the warm maple caramel.
    • For extra indulgence, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
