In partnership with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, the High Commission of Canada in Malaysia is planning a Canadian themed retail promotion with a major retailer of international foods, Mamami Shoppe Sdn. Bhd. The promotion will take place September 21-30, 2024, at déMarket Supermarket (Taman Desa location). As one of the leading retail chains in Malaysia, déMarket provides an excellent opportunity to showcase staple food products (dried, frozen, organic and halal certified) direct to consumers at a retail store that is known for carrying premium, international food and beverage products.
If you are a Canadian exporter of any of the following products and are interested in exporting to the Malaysian market, you are encouraged to register for this event by reaching out to Canada’s Trade Commissioner for Agri-food in Malaysia: katia-maud.laflamme@international.gc.ca.
Products to be featured:
- Confectionery and snacks
- Food-grade grains and pulses
- Fruits and vegetables
- Health supplements (e.g., digestible vitamins)
- Honey
- Ginseng
- Meat including fish and seafood (Note: Exporters of pork products are not eligible to register.)
- Nuts
- Wine, beer and spirits
Canadian products will benefit from enhanced visibility and will be on display in-store and online over the course of the promotion. Products that achieve positive sales results could be considered for listing in déMarket beyond the promotion period and could be introduced to other retail outlets in Malaysia. Mamami will also evaluate the possibility of becoming the sole distributor for selected products in Malaysia. Mamami is a one-stop shop for healthy food covering 90% of the Malaysia market. Please consult Mamami's corporate profile (PDF format) for more information.
Note:
- Canadian exporters interested in this initiative must register by August 17, 2024.
- Selected food and beverage products and samples should be exported on a direct consignment basis.
- Participating Canadian companies will be responsible to ensure that selected products and/or promotional materials arrive in Malaysia by September 17, 2024.
- Halal certification of selected food and beverage products is not mandatory but is recommended for all selected products, with the exceptions of wine, beer and spirits.
